ace of cakes

this cake was for a 40th birthday.  they wanted a cake in the shape of the ace of spades.  i think i did a good job.  who is the ace of cakes now?  hehehe.

i used sprinkles to cover the sides so that i wouldn't need a lot of buttercream and the sides didn't have to be perfect.  a great way to cover up mistakes.

the "a" and the spades are piped with melted chocolate in a cornet.  a cornet is a small piping bag made from parchment paper.

my first wedding cake

this was my first.  i was so nervous worried the whole time that i would mess up the cake some how.  i was so unsure of myself and at the same time i was trying to make it perfect.  so it took longer than usual but it turned out okay.  it could have been better but it is my first cake.  thank god it was a simple cake.

with each cake, i got more confident and finally learned you can fix any mistake.  if you can't fix it you can always put a flower there.  ;)

...and you can't get them to stop?

they call me beeker. why you ask? when i first started working at the bakery my boss had trouble remembering my name.  my name doesn't really fit me, so i can understand.  so dante (my bosses right hand man) and my boss came up with beeker.  it is close to my name but more memorable. it isn't because i have red hair, a big nose, or meeps all the time. sorry to disappoint. so when i am at the bakery everyone calls me beeker.  i even introduce myself as beeker at the bakery.  it is fun to see the look on the person's face when i say, "hi, i'm beeker."
