this cake was for a 40th birthday. they wanted a cake in the shape of the ace of spades. i think i did a good job. who is the ace of cakes now? hehehe.
i used sprinkles to cover the sides so that i wouldn't need a lot of buttercream and the sides didn't have to be perfect. a great way to cover up mistakes. the "a" and the spades are piped with melted chocolate in a cornet. a cornet is a small piping bag made from parchment paper.
